Welcome to The Homework Zone / every Wednesday during term-time 5.30-6.30pm.
FOR ANYONE IS SCHOOL YEARS 6 – 11
The Homework Zone is a safe space for young people to come and study, catch up on school work and get support from teachers. Is there a maths problem you can’t figure out or an English essay you need help with? Maybe you’re stuck with a science equation or just need some encouragement as you prepare for exams. The Homework Zone is for YOU!
FREE
This is a free service, one-hour per week, to any young person and is designed as a community space for anyone living in the Nicholstown-Newtown area of Southampton.
LOCATION
The Homework Zone runs out of Lighthouse International, St Mary’s Road, Southampton, SO14 0BB. Just come along any Wednesday during term time between 5.30-6.30pm to get help with your homework.

WHO ARE THE TEACHERS?
The team that help at The Homework Zone are all volunteers that have experience in teaching various subjects. In the mix we have a deputy head teacher, English teachers, several personal tutors, and those who have worked as geography and head of science teachers in the past. There are other helpers too to make sure the space is as relaxed as possible.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
Other than your work and materials you don’t need to bring anything to The Homework Zone. The time here is totally free of charge. We have various resources available to help. On your first visit we will give you an info sheet to take away and ask your parent/guardian to fill in the information to make sure the right contacts are in place.
WHAT ABOUT COVID?
We have made sure everything is as safe as possible and follow government guidelines every step of the way. The rooms will be well ventilated and hand sanitiser is available throughout the building. If you have any questions about this, please get in touch.
CAN I BRING MY FRIENDS?
The Homework Zone is a space for you and your friends, as long as they’re also in the age bracket (school years 6 – 11). Whilst we want to help you get your work done, we also want you to feel comfortable in the space, so you’re welcome to come and chill out here too.
WHO RUNS THE HOMEWORK ZONE?
The Homework Zone is hosted by Southampton Lighthouse International Church and Young Life Southampton.
